Each year, Mukilteans give one last hurrah each September to the passing of summer with a huge community party that we lovingly call the Lighthouse Festival. Its grown over the years, with 2017 being our 52nd year. For visitors passing through our area on the Cascade Loop Highway, please consider stopping in and enjoying all that the Festival has to offer (September 8-10, 2017):
For three days we'll have artisan booths, food booths, a children's area including a petting zoo, climbing wall, and much more. Many non-profits are on-site with traditional offerings such as "salmon bake" dinners and the like.
On Friday, the Festival will be honoring military and first responders so if you fit that category, contact www.mukfest.com to let them know so they can make sure your'e included in the festivities. Also in the Beer Garden (on site), those wearing Seahawks, Sounders, Storm or Mariners gear will gain free entrance for the Blue Friday themed Garden. Diamond Knot Craft Brewing on-tap beer and an assortment of wines will be offered, and live music from 5:00 pm to midnight from local and regional bands will be entertaining the crowds.
Saturday is definitely a family day starting out with a Kid Parade and General Parade in the Harbour Pointe area (up by the Latter-Day Saints Church) and ending up at the Fire House on Harbour Pointe Drive. Down at Lighthouse Park, the Festival will re-open with vendor artisan booths, food booths and a children's area including a petting zoo and climbing wall, demos from youth sports organizations, and magic shows. Movies will also be shown periodically. The Beer Garden open at 1:00 pm til midnight. Truly there's something for everyone.
Both Friday and Saturday night we will have fireworks out over the water at dusk. How fun is that! Wander around the booths, enjoy some food truck fare, listen to live music and watch the fireworks.
Sunday, the Festival resumes and for those visiting the Beer Garden, enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and hoist a brew and enjoy the last days of summer.
